Painting
and drawing have been a delight and challenge for June ever
since primary school days in Christchurch, New Zealand. Always
a close observer of people and their environment, she had
a compelling urge to put what she saw "on paper".
Largely
self-taught, June has developed her talent, in a wide range
of styles, subject and media, including; watercolour, oil,
charcoal, pen and ink, pencil, pastel, acrylic and mixed media.
Her experience, skills and ability to work across most sectors
of society, enable her to produce an extensive variety of
artwork and art education programs. Public demand is high
for her art skills.
During
the busy years as a mother of three Sons, she accommodated
her artwork around commitments to them. At this time, she
exercised her talents in a great variety of voluntary work
for community causes, including, original artwork and art
tuition.
Currently,
June tutors art to most ages, abilities and ethnic backgrounds.
Book illustrations, artwork for business, public, private
and education sectors also keep her busy, along with creative
workshops, promotional and community art programs, for city
events. Art services also include; murals, décor and
interior art, commissioned works, portraits and cartoons.
June enjoys working along side architects and interior
designers, providing architectural renderings and art
to order for clients.
With
many solo exhibitions behind her and future plans to further
these, June also finds time to motivate, inspire and pass
on her skills to others. She finds this working environment
both enjoyable and rewarding. Her commitment, enthusiasm,
and passion for teaching art, has produced a high demand for
her skills, experience and knowledge.
Requests
for commissions, keep her busy. Junes original
artworks hang throughout the world. Opportunities to
travel. has enabled her to broaden her awareness and understanding
of global cultures and environments. This has influenced her
interest in architectural and historical research and a deeper
appreciation of N.Z. flora & fauna.
Sources
of inspiration for artworks come from personal observations
of people, nature, political issues, music, humorous situations
and from emotional impacts in her life. Influential old
masters include; John Singer Sargent, Franz Marc, Claude
Monet, Michelangelo, Helen Allingham, English and European
painters, 1800 to 1950. Variety, in style, media
and subject, provide the force behind her ongoing journey.
Her recent
works completed, include: pastel paintings of live models,
both male and female. Also mixed media works using; wire,
leather, tissue, string, fibre and acrylic, combined, to depict
personal views on literacy issues, still life and N.Z. native
foliage.
June's
work is available at Rosslyn Gallery in Dunedin and Heart
of Art in Christchurch.
